A funeral service celebrating the life of Helen Kerrill Foster, age 90, of Heath, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 18, at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, with Rev. Martin P. Gehring officiating.
Friends may call from 9:30 a.m.-11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the church, 67 North Fifth Street in Newark.
Private inurnment will take place in August at Lutheran Cemetery in Newark where Helen will be laid to rest next to her husband.
Helen was born May 15, 1933 in Elm Grove, West Virginia to the late Joseph W. and Lillian Kerrill (de Rouffignac) Adlam. She passed away on her 90 th birthday, May 15, 2023, at her home surrounded by her loving children.
Helen was a 1951 graduate of Wheeling High School. She was a homemaker and a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. Helen loved animals, and enjoyed reading, painting, and spoiling her grandchildren.
An active member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Newark, Helen was involved in many capacities at the church including the Women of the ELCA Alice Circle and helping fold the monthly church newsletter. Helen loved to travel and was always up for a road trip or eating out.
She is survived by her daughter, Kerrill Ann Foster of Heath; sons and daughters-in-law, David T. Foster (Bonnie) of Indianapolis, Indiana and Thomas Michael Foster, Ph.D. (Ann Robertson) of Edwardsville, Illinois; grandchildren, Elizabeth Kerrill (Michael) Thibault and Heather Foster, all of Indianapolis, and Abigail (Tyler) Hughes of Columbus; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles K. “Charlie” Foster, Jr., whom she married January 24, 1954 and who passed away on October 19, 2015; and by two brothers, Joseph Adlam and William E. Adlam; and a sister, Patricia Heren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mount Carmel Hospice or to St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.
