Jerry Leo Jones, Sr.

Jerry Leo Jones, Sr., age 79, of St. Louisville, passed away on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at Licking Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.

Jerry was born October 23, 1943 in Newark, Ohio to the late William Franklin Jones, Sr. and the late Dorothy Evelyn (Gray) Jones Brown. He was a 1962 graduate of Newark High School. Jerry was the owner of Superior Aluminum for 28 years. He was also employed by LCAP for 13 years, retiring in November of 2022. Jerry was a member of the Northside Church of Christ. He enjoyed playing Euchre and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His two great-grandsons were his pride and joy. An avid football fan, he loved to watch the OSU Buckeyes and the Cleveland Browns. He also enjoyed watching OSU basketball.

He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Emma Mae (Bourst) Jones, whom he married October 31, 1977; four children, Jerry Leo (Sharon) Jones, Jr. of Hanover, Timothy Jones of Newark, Kevin (Feliza) Jones of Pataskala, and Amanda Sue Jones of Howard; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Thomas Lee (Judy) Jones of Bushnell, Florida; his twin brother, Perry Lou (Susan) Jones of Newark; sisters, Mary Ann (David) Fruth of Ashland and Margaret Jane (Chris) Miller of Akron; many nieces, nephews, cousins and foster grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, James Michael Jones; and a brother, William Franklin Jones, Jr.

Special thanks to the ICU doctors, nurses and staff at Licking Memorial Hospital for the excellent care they gave to Jerry.

Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, August 1, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home, 179 Granville Street in Newark.

A private funeral service will be observed with burial in Newark Memorial Gardens. Pastor Rocky Smith will officiate.
