Mary Martha Smyers

Mary Martha Smyers, age 76, of Pataskala, passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at her home. Mary was born June 9, 1946 in Kermit, West Virginia to the late Lonie and Opal (Hall) Messer.

Mary retired from JC Penney and had also been formerly employed with Mount Carmel. She was a member of the Kirkersville United Methodist Church where she was part of the ladies group. She enjoyed crocheting and sewing.

She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, William C. Smyers, whom she married June 16, 1967; daughters, Tammy Hendershot and Dena Smyers; grandchildren, Sidney Smyers and Delainie Hendersot; brothers, Eugene Messer and Jess Messer; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Dewey, Ernest, Troy, Walter and Claude Messer; two sisters, Ruth Williamson and Lillian Zeek; and son-in-law, Mike Hendershot.

A memorial service for Mary will be held in the Spring of 2023 at the Kirkersville United Methodist Church with Pastor Jim Hall officiating. The date and time of the service will be announced as it draws near.
