Aaron Monty Matthews

A Homegoing Service, to celebrate the life of Aaron Monty Matthews, 46, of Newark, will be held Friday, November, 10, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Michael A. Noble and Rev. Martinez Sellers officiating. Burial will be held on Monday at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 9th from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the church, 383 Washington Street, Newark. Aaron was born in Newark, Ohio on June 12, 1977 to the late Audrey Matthews. He passed away at Licking Memorial Hospital on November 3, 2023. Survivors include his loving wife, best friend and soulmate, Cheryl L. (Show) Matthews; children, Audrell “Maurice” Matthews, Kylee Clark, Thomas Clark III, Makiah Matthews and Adreyan Matthews; Brother and sisters, Ashley Matthews, Maurice (Rachel) Sims, Celeste Sims and Brittany (Tony) Luna; his father, Ronnie White; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends. Aaron worked at Tectum Inc. for many years. He enjoyed hosting family and friends BBQ events and was an avid football fan. Aaron also enjoyed coaching youth sporting leagues; had a wonderful outgoing personality; knew how to make everyone feel special and was a mentor to many. He was devoted to his family and friends and will be missed by everyone that knew him. He was preceded in death by his mother. In his generous nature, Aaron gave the gift of life to others by being a donor through Lifeline of Ohio.
