Alberta Elizabeth Bigi

Alberta Elizabeth Liz Bigi, 85, of Thornville, passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2013 at Kindred Healthcare in Newark. Liz was born on March 4, 1928 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late William C. and Emma (Yestadt) Gould. Liz attended Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Buckeye Lake and St. Francis DeSales Catholic Church in Newark. She was a former employee of Ace News in Heath, and enjoyed meeting many people while working there. Liz loved reading, especially non-fiction, planting flower and vegetable gardens, and, in her younger years, ice skating. Most of all, she loved being a devoted wife and a wonderful mother. She leaves a legacy of kindness and thoughtfulness that will be forever missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her family: Children Robert W., Maryann, Michael and Laura; 11 grandchildren, Jennifer, Robby, David and Matthew, Brii, whom Liz helped raise, Jonathan, Christina and Kimberly, Heather, Robin and Ruth as well as 6 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Liz was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Robert D. Bigi on January 10, 2012, and daughter-in-law Donna Prokop Bigi. A memorial service, celebrating both Liz and Robert Sr.s life, will be held at a later date.
