Alberta M. Bowen

A funeral service celebrating the life of Alberta M. Bowen, age 87, of Newark, will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 27, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street, Newark. Alberta was born October 27, 1929 in Newark, Ohio to the late Oscar and Mary Edna (Stewart) Dunn. She passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center (operated by Hospice of Central Ohio). She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, canning, birds, farming and animals. She is survived by four sons, Clifford James Bowen, Donald St. Clair (Karen) Bowen, Barrett Aherne (Jessica) Bowen, all of Newark, and Morgan Hoss (Triesa) Bowen of Gambier; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; a brother, James Dunn of Newark; and nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Orville Bowen, on March 19, 2006; two sons, Ben Hurr Bowen and Mark Anthony Bowen; three brothers, Buddy Dunn, Kenny Holcomb and Harvey Holcomb; and a sister, Irene Davis.
