A funeral service, celebrating the life of Alexander Alex Vasiloff, 91, of Newark, will be held on Friday, January 19, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Second Presbyterian Church, 42 East Church Street, Newark, with Pastor Todd Tracy and Pastor Tom Vasiloff officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Military Honors will be observed by the Licking County Veterans Alliance. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the funeral service on Friday, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Alex was born in Syracuse, NY on January 31, 1926 to the late Norman and Anastasia (Athanasoff) Vasiloff. He passed away peacefully in his sleep to greet his precious wife, Jeanette, on January 15, 2018 at the Middleton Senior Living in Granville. Alex proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. Prior to retirement, he was an electronic technician at the Newark Air Force Base. He was a member of Second Presbyterian Church for over 50 years, where he served as an usher. He was a Civil War and history buff, enjoyed reading, shopping, camping, woodworking and working on electronics. Alex had a mischevious spirit, great sense of humor and loved making everyone laugh. Survivors include his children, Michael Vasiloff, Thomas (Karina) Vasiloff, Stephen Vasiloff and Mary (John) Hinderer; grandchildren, Mike (Benita) Vasiloff, Stefan (Katie) Vasiloff, Nick Vasiloff, Niki (Clint) Burney, Elizabeth (Tristan) Shaw, Jake Erskine, Kayli Vasiloff, Kayla Vasiloff, Alexander Vasiloff and James Vasiloff; great grandchildren, Dylan Burney, Adalynn Vasiloff, Ava Vasiloff, Lilly Vasiloff and Jason Shaw; niece, Mary Lynn Desimone; nephew, Norman (Linda) Maywright; loving friend, Sandy Huff; and numerous other family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Jeanette (Killingbeck) Vasiloff in 2008; daughter-in-law, Tricia Vasiloff; sisters, Geraldine, Olga, Mary and Milka.
