A funeral service celebrating the life of Alice Ann Cleghon, age 79, of Thornville, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 13, at the Thornville Chapel of Hoskinson Funeral & Cremation Service with Pastor Evan Saunders officiating. Burial will take place in Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Lancaster.
Friends may call from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home, 56 South Main Street in Thornville.
Alice was born June 4, 1944 in Lancaster, Ohio to the late John and Elizabeth (Scott) Megahey. She passed away on Friday, February 9, 2024 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center (operated by Hospice of Central Ohio).
Alice was formerly employed at Essex in Lancaster and later in Zanesville. As a homemaker, she enjoyed baking, cooking, and gardening. She loved to decorate cupcakes and cakes and was especially known for her delicious potato soup, cookies, potato salad, fruitcake, fried chicken, pecan pie, and homemade egg rolls, just to name a few. Alice was a talented musician and enjoyed singing, writing songs, yodeling, playing the harmonica, and Karaoke. She also enjoyed drawing and made and illustrated books for her grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Michael Bryan Cleghon; grandchildren, Alicia Thompson, Leah Cleghon, Lauren Balo, and Seryna Cleghon; great-grandchildren, Lily, Aleyna, and Ohna; a brother, John Megahey; sisters, Janet Keller, Melodee Sullivan, Lynn Roshon, and Cheryl (Dan) Burrows; aunt, Jeanne Helmick; nieces, nephews, and cousins; and daughter-in-law, Amber Burns.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bryan Thomas Cleghon, whom she was married to for 62 years; two brothers, Frank “Brian” Megahey and Robert William “Billy” Megahey; five sisters, Sheila Lynn Hart, Jane Kisor, Susan Thompson, Jerylyn McArthur, and Karen Rux; and a nephew, Bobby Murphy.
