Alice G. Stauffer

A funeral service, celebrating the life of Alice G. Stauffer, age 101, of Newark, will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Young officiating. Burial will follow at Newark Memorial Gardens.Friends may call at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street, Newark, on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.Alice was born in Fredonia, Ohio on January 20, 1915 to the late Frank J. and Zora (Sillin) Chilcote. She passed away at her residence on June 8, 2016 while surrounded by her loving family.Alice was a devoted homemaker to her husband and sons. She owned and operated Stauffers Market with her husband for many years. She also worked for W.T. Grant Company for many years. She graduated from Nashport High School and was a member of Central Christian Church, Disciples of Christ. She was passionate about baking, cooking and playing the piano. She enjoyed visiting with family and friends and always looked forward to getting her hair done weekly.Survivors include her two sons, David L. (Mary Ann) Stauffer and Douglas R. Stauffer; grandchildren, Michael (Margie) Stauffer, Kimberly (Bryan) McCormick and Cheryl (Tim) Black; eight great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Warren L. Stauffer, who passed away in 2006, whom she married June 3, 1935; and brother, Don Chilcote.Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Alice to Foundation For Hospice of Central Ohio.
