A graveside service celebrating the life of Alice J. Schimpf, age 82, of Newark, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 13, at Rocky Fork Cemetery with Pastor Craig Burdich officiating. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, April 12, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home, 179 Granville Street in Newark. Alice was born October 31, 1935 in Newark, Ohio to the late Eugene F. and Laura Elizabeth (Glancy) Schimpf. She passed away on Sunday, April 8, 2018 at Altercare Newark South. Alice had been a waitress and nurses aide with Autumn Healthcare and Newark Healthcare. She spent many years living in Lakewood and Denver, Colorado and loved the time that she spent there. She had a passion for all animals, especially her cats. She is survived by a sister, Geraldine Harrison of Newark; special nephew, Edward Schimpf of Newark; sisters-in-law, Mabel Schimpf of Newark and Patricia Schimpf of Oregon; brothers-in-law, Earl Stover of Westerville and Jack Harrison of Newark; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Roger Lesley Cooper; six brothers, Ralph, William, Walter, Lester, Russell and Robert Schimpf; and three sisters, Cathryn Boyd, Betty Arter and Mary Stover.
