A funeral service celebrating the life of Alice L. Hayes, age 86, of Newark, will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Hebron Chapel of Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service, with Reverend Marvin Haught officiating. Burial will follow at Licking Baptist Cemetery.Alice was born in Leon, Kentucky on September 3, 1930 to the late W. Riley and Millie Susan (Knipp) Spradlin. She went to be with her Lord on October 29, 2016 in the Chestnut House Assisted Living in Newark.Alice was a devoted homemaker to her family. She was a member of Licking Baptist Church, where she was a former Sunday school teacher, church clerk and church historian for many years. She enjoyed reading, gardening, sewing, cooking and spending time with her loving family.Survivors include her children, Cathy (Rev. Charles) Armstrong, Martin K. (Patty) Hayes, Ivy (Steven) Smith and Jeffrey (Mary) Hayes; grandchildren, Tracie Hayes, Joshua (Kristi) Armstrong, Charis Armstrong, Nicole (Craig) Casey, Ryan (Katrina) Hayes, Shawn (Meredith) Smith, M. Crew Hayes, and Erik Smith; great grandchildren, Austin Armstrong, Tyler Armstrong, Peyton Olivia Casey, Madison Hope Armstrong, Monroe Grace Armstrong, Adelyn Casey and Kaelyn Smith; sisters-in-law, Phyllis Spradlin, Dorothy Holland, Carolyn Hayes, Lillian (Wayne) Stephens and Maurice Seagraves; brother-in-law, H. Kenneth (Mary Frances) Hayes; and numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Martin Hayes; sisters, Ruby Albright, Jessie Clevenger, Edith Hall, Fannie Layhew and Cassie Bechdolt; and brothers, Kirby Spradlin, Herbert Spradlin, Kenneth Spradlin, Clyde Spradlin, Oval Alexander and Arvil Alexander.Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Alice to Capitol City Hospice, 1650 Watermark Dr., Columbus, Ohio 43215.
