Amanda C. Thomas

A memorial service, celebrating the life of Amanda C. Thomas, age 93, of Newark will be held on, Friday, March 3, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at Trinity AME Church, 64 E. Church St. Newark, with Pastor Bruce Wynn officiating.Amanda was born in Holt, Alabama on April 17, 1923 to the late James and Lucille Cook. She passed away on February 18, 2017 at Flint Ridge Nursing and Rehab Center in Newark.Prior to retirement, Amanda worked for Diebold for over 25 years. She was a prior member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church and Trinity AME Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher and a church secretary. She was a member of Neal Avenue United Methodist Church. Amanda had a bubbly, outgoing personality and she loved everyone she met.Survivors include her loving daughter, Robin Jackson; two grandchildren, Christina Thomas and David (Angela) Thomas; four great grandchildren, Kristan Phelps, Niall Thomas, Natazia Thomas and Nevin Thomas; and numerous friends.In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Rufus Thomas, Sr.; son, Rufus Don Thomas, Jr.; daughter, Frances Thomas; and brothers and sisters, Mary, Olivia, Herbert, Eugene, John and Richard.Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service is honored to care for Amanda and the Thomas family.
