Anna Marie Simpson

Anna Marie Simpson, age 59, of Newark, passed away on Thursday afternoon, February 16, 2023 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Anna was born July 2, 1963 in Newark, Ohio to the late Dixon White Stephens and the late Millie Marie (McNutt) Stephens.

Anna worked as a server and was also a caretaker. She worked on her own to achieve her GED. Her passions were undeniably her children, grandchildren, sister, and her horses.

She is survived by two daughters, Melissa (Steven Jewell) Davis and Tiffany (Rusty) Shook, both of Newark; a son, Stephen (Peggy) Lake of Newark; three granddaughters and three grandsons; her best friend and twin sister, Dianna (J.R.) Comston of Newark; three brothers, Richard Stephens of Newark, Mike (Tammy) Stephens of Nashport, and Jamie (Ronda) Stephens of Dresden; several nieces and nephews; and her horse, Red (1800 lb. “Big Red Ass”).

Reuniting with her in Heaven is her husband, Lloyd Wayne Simpson, who died March 16, 2020; her parents, Dixon and Millie; a sister, Regina Trost; a grandson, Stevie Jr. Jewell; and horse, Black.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
