Anthony Dewayne Bliss

Anthony Dewayne “Tony” Bliss, age 73, of Thornville, passed away on Monday, December 18, 2023 at Mount Carmel Rehabilitation Hospital in Westerville. Tony was born November 28, 1950 in Dayton, Ohio to the late William and Naomi Lenora (Hackathorn) Bliss.

Tony was a graduate of Newark High School. He was formerly employed with Larsen Manufacturing and retired from the IRS. Tony was a member of the Boy Scouts, the Newark Eagles #389, and Moose Lodge #499. An avid sports fan, he loved football and supported the Newark Wildcats, OSU Buckeyes, Cincinnati Bearcats, the Bengals, and loved watching Reds baseball. He also enjoyed playing Bingo and working puzzles.

He is survived by a son, Chad Bliss of Thornville; step-sons, Anthony (Sheri) Mackzum, Jr., Ann Mackzum, and Dave (Erin) Mackzum, all of Finneytown; seven grandchildren, Logan, Matthew, Taylor, Brayden, Jack, Henry, and Peggy; a sister, Debbie (Mark) Bridges of Gahanna; a niece, Heather (Jason) Bliss Lee of Washington State; great-niece, Emma, and great-nephew, Jacobe; and former wife, Robin Bliss of Thornville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Diane Mary Bliss, on January 15, 2018; and by a sister, Polly Cone.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Licking County Humane Society, the Licking County Aging Program, or the Special Olympics.

Inurnment will take place at a later date in Spring Grove Cemetery in Cincinnati where Tony will be laid to rest next to his wife, Diane.
