Anthony Spiert

A funeral service, celebrating the life of Anthony Spiert, 78, of Etna, will be held on Thursday July 23, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. in the Christian Apostolic Church in Newark, with Pastor Keith Sjostrand as celebrant. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Cemetery, Lancaster, OH.Anthony died peacefully on Sunday evening, July 19, 2015, at his home following an extended illness. He was born April 23, 1937, in Columbus, the son of the late Anthony and Incornado Mary (Melfi) Spiert, Sr. He retired after 30 years of service with the State of Ohio. He was an active member of the Kirkersville Apostolic Church for over 60 years, and recently had been attending the Christian Apostolic Church in Newark.He is survived by his loving family: wife Marie (Plumley) Spiert whom he married on March 21, 1959, sons: Jeffrey (Lisa), Gary and Tom (Kim); daughter: Cynthia K. Spiert; brother: Arthur; sister: Mary (Walter) Ulry; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephew.He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter: Kathy Sloan and brothers:Vincent, Carmen, Richard, Nick, John and Joe Spiert and sisters Ann Russell and Lucille Wilkinson.Friends may call on Wednesday, July 22, 2015, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Kirkersville Chapel of HOSKINSON Funeral & Cremation Service, 285 East Main Street in Kirkersville.Memorials may be directed to the Greystone Hospice, 500 W Wilson Bridge Rd.
