Funeral Services celebrating the life of Arnold Johnson, 82, of Hebron, will be held on Wednesday, April 5, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. in the Hall & Jones Funeral Home, Virgie, Kentucky. Burial with full military honors will follow in the Davidson Memorial Gardens in Floyd County, Kentucky. Arnold passed away at his home, on Thursday evening, March 30, 2017. He was born in Speight, Kentucky, on June 4, 1934, the son of the late William Payne and Della (Meade) Johnson. He served honorably in the U.S. Army, and retired from the Lakewood School System where he had served as both teacher and Principal of Lakewood Middle School. An active member of the Hebron community, he was a member of the Hebron Lions Club and the Hebron Masonic Lodge. He was also a member of the Ohio Retired Teachers Association and the Licking County Retired Teachers Association. He enjoyed vegetable gardening and traveling. He is survived by his loving wife Brenda Johnson. In addition, He is survived by his brother Forrest Dale Johnson in addition to many nieces and nephews; and his devoted caregiver of 7 years, Mike Matthews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers Garland, Farlin, Marvin, Hershell, Clifford, Carmel, Hurley, Okie and Everett Buster Johnson and his sisters Isabelle Burke, Odgie Anderson, Barbara Spurlock, Lina Tackett and Melphia Hall. Friends may call on Sunday, April 2, 2017, from 2-4 p.m. and 6- 8 p.m. at the Kirkersville home of HOSKINSON Funeral and Cremation Service, 285 East Main St. in Kirkersville; where Lions club services will commence at 7:30 p.m. and Masonic funeral services will be held at 7:45 p.m. Calling hours in Virgie, Kentucky, will be held on Tuesday, April 5, 2017, starting at 4:00 p.m. Church services will be held at the funeral home at 7 p.m. on Tuesday evening. The family prefers that memorials be directed to The Foundation for Hospice of Central Ohio, P.O. Box 430, Newark, Ohio 43058. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
