Arthur Byrd

Arthur G. Byrd, Jr, 85, of Hebron, died July 12, 2017, following a brief illness. He was born January 18, 1932 in Newark, the son of the late Arthur G. and Mildred Naomi (Richards) Byrd. He was a graduate of Hebron H.S., class of 1949. He was a long time employee of Kaiser Aluminum, and was known around Hebron for his abilities to fix anything. He served honorably in the US Air Force during the Korean conflict, and was stationedoverseas. He was an active member of the Hebron Post #285, American Legion and the O.M.B.C. Old Mens Breakfast Club at Hebron McDonalds. He also participated in welcoming men back from Honor Flights. Most importantly, he loved spending time with his family. He is survived by his daughters Karen, Jennifer and Susan, step-sons Jim & Tim Walpole; sister Linda Howison, 14 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Mona on April 26, 2017, his son Robbie, grandson Mark Walpole, brother Richard, sisters Virginia George and Rosalie Walters, brothers-in-law Cliff Howison, Virgil George, Dr. Richard Walters, and sister-in-law Ruth Byrd. Graveside Funeral Services, celebrating his life will be held on Friday, July 21, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. in the Hebron Cemetery, where Art will be inurned with his beloved wife Mona. Full Military Honors will be provided by the Licking County Veterans Alliance. A celebration of his life will continue at the Hebron Legion. The family prefers that memorials be directed to the Hebron Post of the American Legion, P.O. Box 791, Hebron, Ohio 43025.
