A memorial service celebrating the life of Arthur Otto Patznick, 81, of Newark, will be held on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service, with Rev. Rae Lynn Schleif officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street, Newark, on Wednesday, two hours prior to the memorial service, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, masks must be worn inside the funeral home and for your protection, a maximum of 35 guests will be allowed inside at one time. Please practice social distancing. Arthur was born in Toledo, Ohio on May 6, 1939 to the late William and Loretta (Martin) Patznick. He passed away at his residence on March 13, 2021 while surrounded by family. Prior to retirement, Arthur was the Superintendent of Dawes Arboretum for 42 years. He enjoyed growing bonsai, fishing and traveling. He was a member of the Bonsai Club at Dawes Arboretum. Most important was the time he spent with his loving family, especially doting on his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Shirley (Oppe) Patznick, whom he married February 15, 1960; children, Gregory (Sandy) Patznick, Mark (Tiffany) Patznick and Christine (Leonard) Wogan; grandchildren, Sarah (Kyle) Weekly, Alyssa (Maura) Patznick-Rose, Chance Patznick and Emily (Samuel) Slater; and great grandchildren, Carter Weekly, Owen Slater and Lucas Weekly. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Frederick Patznick. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Arthur to Hospice of Central Ohio or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
