A funeral service, celebrating the life of Aubrey Gayle Bishop, 74, of Millersport, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 10, 2015 in the chapel of the Thornville home of HOSKINSON Funeral & Cremation Service. Burial will follow in the Millersport Cemetery.Gayle died early Tuesday morning, August 4, 2015 in Lancaster. He was born August 23, 1940, in Sharon, West Virginia, the son of the late Carl and Ethel (Caudell) Bishop. He was a graduate of Eastbank H.S., and had worked for many years as a steam pipe fitter and was president of his local union.He belonged to the VFW #1388 at Buckeye Lake and was a former member of the Millersport Lions Club, and worked for many years at the Millersport Sweet Corn Festival.He is survived by his family: son Rodney (Barbara) Bishop of Pleasantville, daughter Sherry Fannin of Newark, grandchildren Amanda Fannin of Powell, Duston Bishop of Millersport, Cassandra (Brad) Bay of Utica, great-grandaughter Adria Fannin of Powell, sisters Sue (Al) Bergeron, Patty Cantley, Alice (Danny) May; brother Junior (Edna) Bishop; and many nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Alice on July 21, 2009, brothers Charles and Hugh Thomas Bishop.The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 9, 2015 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home, 56 S Main Street in Thornville.
