A funeral service, celebrating the life of Barbara Jean Barrera, 76 of Newark, formerly of Hebron, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 5, 2015, in the chapel of the Hebron home of HOSKINSON Funeral & Cremation Service with Pastor Jenn Ballenger as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Hebron Cemetery. She was born May 2, 1938 in Newark, the daughter of Ocie Sands Keller. She was a graduate of Hebron H.S., and LPN program at Licking County Vocational School/COTC. She worked as a staff nurse in the Emergency Room at Licking Memorial Hospital for over 25 years, and also assisted Dr. Robert Raker, Licking County Coroner. Following her retirement, she worked as a pharmacy technician at Krogers. She was an active member of Newark First Church of the Nazarene and was a member and past matron of Eagon Chapter #123, O.E.S. She is survived by her loving family: Tom Tab ( Pauletta) Barrera of The Plains, Kim (Ed) Williams of Mt. Vernon and Rita (Shelly Dinsbier) Barrera of Newark, grandchildren Travis Barrera, Trevor Williams, Kevie (Jarrod) Fiecoat, Kerah Williams, and Corey Poches; great-grandchildren Chad and Brooke Barrera and Emma Fiecoat; uncle Forrest Sands of Hebron, aunt Nora Lee Orr of Hebron, and several cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband Frank in 1997, aunt and uncle Doris & Richard Orr, uncle Paul Sands. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 4, 2015 from 5 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home, 108 North 7th Street in Hebron, where Eagon Chapter Order of Eastern Star will have funeral services at 7:45 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the Licking County Humane Society.
