Barbara A. (Walters) Humrichouse, 76, of Newark, passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2013 at Licking Memorial Hospital. She was born on July 27, 1937 in Newark, daughter of the late Lowell and Florence Irene (McFarland) Walters. Barbara grew up in the Jacksontown and Hebron areas. She graduated from Hebron High School in 1955, and from Grant Hospital School of Nursing in 1958. She was employed by the Whetstone Medical Clinic for approximately 10 years, leaving in the 1970s. At this time, she moved to Reynoldsburg and went to work at St. Anthonys Hospital in Columbus. During her time there, Barbara worked her way up from a floor nurse to taking care of hospital administrative duties. When OSU took over St. Anthonys, Barbara continued working there until her retirement in 1999. She spent 44 years in the nursing profession.After her retirement, Barbara became a volunteer at Mt. Carmel East, where she worked until her husband was diagnosed with cancer in 2008. While living in Reynoldsburg, She attended the UUCC congregation and was a member of the Red Hat Society. She and her husband also enjoyed traveling in their motor home. In 2012, Barbara moved to Flint Ridge Nursing Home where she had been a patient until her recent hospital stay.She is survived by sisters: Mary (Joseph) Simon and Sharon (William) Tinney; Three step-sons: Steve (Kelly) Humrichouse, Phil (Kris) Humrichouse, and Danny (Michelle) Humrichouse; 8 step grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter, and her sister, Janet Clark.A memorial service, celebrating Barbaras life, will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at The Life Church, 101 Lancaster Dr., Heath, OH, with Pastor Steve Prince officiating.In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in Barbaras memory to: The American Heart Association, PO Box 15120, Chicago, IL 60693.The family also wishes to express a Special thank you to the Staff of Flint Ridge Nursing Home, The Wound Center, staff of LMH, Dr. Campbell, Dr. Napolitano, Dr. Kret, and Debi McNerney, friend, caregiver and prayer partner.Online condolences may be sent to www.hoskinsonfuneral.comHOSKINSON Funeral and Cremation Service, Kirkersville, is honored to care for the Humrichouse Family.
