Bart Thorpe

A funeral service celebrating the life of Bart Thorpe, age 62, of Thornville, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 13, at the Thornville chapel of Hoskinson Funeral & Cremation Service. Friends may call from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the funeral home, 56 South Main Street in Thornville. Burial will follow in Zion Ridge Cemetery. The family asks that you please wear your favorite cammo clothing in Bart’s memory.

Bart was born July 30, 1958 in Newark, Ohio to the late Donald Lee and Manzella June (Woods) Thorpe. He passed away on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at Licking Memorial Hospital.

Bart was a 1977 graduate of Sheridan High School where he was a football star. He retired from the John K. Leohner Co. in Carroll where he had been a pro seeder. Bart was a member of the Laborers Union. He loved music and enjoyed playing the guitar. An outdoorsman, Bart enjoyed rock collecting, fishing, deer hunting, arrowhead hunting and knapping, and golfing.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mary (Eppley) Thorpe, whom he married August 29, 1992; daughter, Maranda Thorpe (Jacob Fay) of Thornville; brothers, Dale R. (April) Thorpe of Glenford, Dino Thorpe of Buckeye Lake, Craig (Beth) Thorpe of Alexandria, and Kevin (Shannon) Thorpe of Thornville; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Helen and Ted Eppley of Thornville; brothers-in-law, Jerry (Cyndie) Eppley of Zanesville, James Eppley of Thurston, and Teddy (Jenny) Eppley of Kirkersville; nieces and nephews; special friends, Tiny and Jeff; and his beloved dogs, Mia, Gonzo and Bella.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, James Marshall Thorpe; and a brother, Ronnie L. Thorpe.
