Calling hours for Bette Lue Godenschwager, 89, of Newark will be held on Wednesday, August 19, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home, 179 Granville Street, Newark.Bette was born in Athens, Ohio on April 28, 1926 to the late William H. and Marjorie E. (McNeal) Six. She passed away peacefully on August 15, 2015 at her residence while surrounded by family.Bette was a devoted homemaker to her family. She was a former member of the Newark VFW Auxiliary. She was an avid bowler, traveled the world with her husband and children during his military career; and enjoyed socializing with her family and friends.She is survived by her five children, Charla J. (Warren) Brinker of Spencer, OH, Phillip N. (Susan Sam Heffernan) Godenschwager of Randolph, VT, Christa J. (David) Priest of Newark, Sally D. (Mike) Richards of Golden, CO and Brent Matt (Christine) Godenschwager of Newark; nine grandchildren, Charles (Mish) Brinker, Wayne Brinker, Scott Riley, Sara Hall, Nick Hall, Nathan Godenschwager, Rebecca Godenschwager, Rose Godenschwager and Toby (Daniele) Heffernan; seven great grandchildren, Hannah, Zander and Caleigh Riley, Cameron Brinker, Justin, Julia, and Dylan Heffernan; and numerous nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, CWO4 Charles, G. Goldie Godenschwager in 1993; daughter, Sue Hall; sister, Elanor Cummings; and brother, Dana Six.Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Bette to Foundation For Hospice of Central Ohio, PO Box 430, Newark, Ohio 43055-0430.Private graveside services will be held for the family at Newark Memorial Gardens.Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service is honored to care for the Godenschwager family.
