A funeral service celebrating the life of Betty Dumas, age 65, of Newark, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 9, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home with Pastor Daniel Fullen officiating. Burial will take place in Newark Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 8, at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street, Newark.Betty was born April 24, 1951 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Paul Ivy and Kathryn (Dumas) Perrin. She passed away on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loving family.Betty was employed with Pitney-Bowes as a secretary for a number of years. She attended Christian Apostolic Church and the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. Betty enjoyed puzzles, word searches, reading and listening to all types of music. She also enjoyed writing and was a prolific writer, especially short stories.She is survived by three children, Lamont Dumas (Alyssa) of Newark, Dawana Kimmie and family of Baltimore, Maryland and Jimmie Goodgame (Shandis) of Newark; grandchildren, Jeffrey McMillian, Shandena Dumas, Jullie Gough, Kevin Kelley, Andrew Kelley, Ayanna Goodgame and Davian Goodgame; many great-grandchildren; brothers, Gregory King of Atlanta, Georgia, Arthur King of Cleveland, Francione Lamont King of Vista, California and Kirk Trevelle King (Wanda) of Columbus; sister, Jaquella Heard of Cleveland; many nieces and nephews; and cousins, Trevor Wilson (Sheila) and Shannah Wilson-Pate of Tuscaloosa, Alabama.Memorial contributions may be made to the Foundation for Hospice of Central Ohio, Christian Apostolic Church or the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church.Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home is honored to care for Betty and her family.
