A funeral service celebrating the life of Betty Sue Goddard Nethers Stevenson, 81, of Gahanna, will be held on Sunday, May 22, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service. Visitation will be held at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street, Newark, on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Betty Sue passed away at Mt. Carmel East on Sunday, May 15, 2022. She was born on December 10, 1940 to the late Howard Arthur and Belle Louise (Embree) Goddard Betty Sue spent her time as a stay at home mom, earning her BS and teaching degree at the same time her oldest child graduated high school. After teaching for two years she was hired by the government where she spend 30 years teaching. Her career took her across the State of Ohio and on to California. She was able to travel throughout the United States, including Alaska and around the world in such places as England, Ireland, Europe and Japan. She enjoyed knitting, especially blankets for the grandchildren, traveling and spending time with her loving family and friends. Betty and former husband Jerry Nethers’ children are Dr. Michael (Susan) Nethers, Amy (Dr. Charles) McMarrow, John (Allison) Nethers and Sherrie (James) Beeler; grandchildren, Jeni Gruber, Nick Nethers, Kylie Ann Nethers, Brea Busse, McKenzie Nethers, Stephanie Gartner, Amanda Turner, Jason McMarrow, Catherine Milstead, Jared McMarrow, Joshua McMarrow, Emily McMarrow, Elizabeth McMarrow, Naomi McMarrow, Rebecca McMarrow, Natalie McMarrow, Melody McMarrow, Tyler Nethers, Katie Nethers, Kelly Nethers, Annabelle Beeler, Jeremiah Beeler, Elijah Beeler, and Mary Evelynn Beeler; great grandchildren, Laura, Addison, Grayson, Oliver, Abigail, Liam, Baylor, Noah, Gabriel, Elias, Alexis, Olivia, Daemon, Ava, Raylan, Dakota, Carter. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Sandra Davis Nethers; grandson, John Michael Beeler; great granddaughter, Aleyah Noel; and former husband, Gene Stevenson.
