A funeral service, celebrating the life of Betty K. Williams (Hawk), 96, of Newark, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2023, in the chapel of The Kirkersville home of Hoskinson Funeral & Cremation Service, with Pastor Craig Burdick as celebrant. Burial will follow at Fairmont Cemetery in Jacksontown. Betty passed away peacefully on Monday, February 20, 2023, in Newark. She was born on August 22, 1926, in Flora, Meigs County, to the late Ross and Zura E (Swartz) Hawk. She was a graduate of Shade High School marrying the love of her life, the late Eugene O. Williams shortly following graduation. Following their marriage, they relocated to Hebron to manage a farm. She worked at Weekly Reader and in various bookkeeping roles (Flo-lizer & Sears) throughout her life before taking time to enjoy her passion as a florist for Kelley’s Flowers. In 1982, she and her late husband pursued their dream of owning a family farm where she was active in helping with business management and sales becoming well known in the community for sweet corn. Betty was actively involved in Grange, ABWA (where she served as President), the American Legion Auxiliary, and the UTC. She was passionate about her family, sports, and puzzles. Early in life she played travel softball, participated in a bowling league, and enjoyed golfing. If she wasn’t in the bleachers watching the Buckeyes or one of her many grandchildren, she was watching from home. She is survived by her children Gary Williams (Jane) of Georgia, Rodney (Kelly) Williams, and Annette “Annie” Williams, both of Jacksontown; grandchildren: Nicole (Mike) Courtney, Chad Williams, Matt Williams, Gina (Craig) Burdick, Ginger (Ben) Howe, Tyler (Tiffany) Gleason, Miranda (Seth) Short, and Jennifer (Brian) Zimmerman; great-grandchildren Jacob, Austin, Ty, Ben, Scottie, Caden, Ella, Bethany, Bridget, Brinley, Gage, Maria, & Rachel; sisters-in-law, Mary Hawk, Willa Jean Hawk, Betty Kelley and brother-in-law Marvin Pullins; special cousin Jane Williams; along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to close family members, Betty is preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Linda Williams. Her family will receive friends on Friday, February 24th from 2-4 & 6-8 at the Funeral Home, 285 East Main St. in Kirkersville.
