Billy Sims

Billy Ray Sims, 80, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at his home following a brief illness. He was born on July 29, 1934 in Big Bend, West Virginia, son of the late Walker P. and Zona (Richards) Sims.He worked at Roper Corporation for 23 years and Premier Glass. He attended Thornville United Methodist Church. Billy was a hard worker who loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed Southern Gospel music, wood working, and gardening especially flowers.He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years: OnaBelle whom he married on September 24, 1959; seven children, Annabelle Currence (Paul), Rebecca Cavinee (Chuck), Dennis (Edna) Sims, Kenneth (Jill) Sims, Patrick (Trish) Sims, Michael (Staci) Sims and Kevin (Trish) Sims; 15 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; sister Bonnie Buck; brothers, Jim, Rick, and Fred; as well as many other family members and friends. In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by: brothers, Denver, Eugene, Walker Jr., and Harold Sims; and his grandson, Allen Sims.Friends may call on Saturday, October 4, 2014, at the Thornville home of Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service, 56 S. Main St. from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., and again at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, West Virginia on Monday, October 6, 2014 from 5 to 8 p.m.A funeral service celebrating Billys life will be held on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Stump Funeral Home.
