Billy Wayne Young, Jr.

A visitation celebrating the life Billy Wayne Young, Jr., age 78, of Zanesville, will be held on Monday, December 28, 2020 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service, 179 Granville Street, Newark.

Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, masks must be worn inside the funeral home and a maximum of 35 guests will be allowed inside at one time.  Please practice social distancing.

Burial will be held in Barnes Cemetery.

Billy was born in Augusta Woodruff, Arkansas on June 25, 1942 to the late Oliver and Ina Alean (Moore) Young.  He passed away at Genesis Hospital on December 16, 2020.

Prior to retirement, Billy was a mechanical technician at the Newark Air Force Base for 35 years.  After retirement, he worked at Schwebel Baking Company.  He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he was ordained to the office of Priest in the Aaronic Priesthood and ordained to the office of Elder in the Melchizedik Priesthood.  He enjoyed studying the Bible, researching genealogy, watching John Wayne movies, vacations, shopping, traveling and the great outdoors.

Survivors include a daughter, Kathy (Denny McClain) Hunter; grandchildren, Katelyn Jenkins, Kayla Humphrey, Catherine Landis, and Clarissa Rutherford; aunt, Fran (Bill) Moore; uncle, James Moore; close friends, Larry and Marie McClain; and numerous cousins and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his significant other, Catherine Hunter.
