Blanche "Jean" Boring

Graveside funeral services celebrating the life of Blanche “Jean” Boring, 102, formerly of Thornville, will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, December 21, 2020 in the Lutheran Reformed Cemetery, Thornville with her Pastor Orrey McFarland as celebrant. The casket will be open at the cemetery from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. for those who wish to pay their last respects. Due to COVID 19 Restrictions Please practice social distancing and wear face masks for the service.

Jean died early Wednesday Morning, December 16, 2020 in Heath following a brief illness. She was born in Corning, on May 15, 1918, the daughter of the late Fred and Hazel (Post) Fisher. She was a graduate of Corning H.S. and The Ohio State University with a degree in Home Economics. She taught Home Ec. at Thornville High School and Pleasantville and also helped her husband, Charles with the family Funeral Home businesses in Thornville and Hebron for many years, until their retirement in 1985.

A pillar of the Thornville community, Jean was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Thornville Chapter #156, Order of Eastern Star, Thornville Lions and Lioness club, Carnation Mothers Club and was a 4-H leader. She was also a member of the Ohio Funeral Directors Association, her husband Charles served as president in 1973.

On August 22, 1942, she married Charles R. Boring and they had five children: Charlene (Larry) Roberts, Robert (Sally), Richard (Joy), David (Donna) and Fred (Janine); along with her grandchildren Chris (Mindi), Beth, J.R. (Christy), Jenny (Chad), Richie (Shari), Justin (Toshia), Tami (Don), Eryn (Doug) and Samantha; sixteen great-grandchildren, five great great grandchildren; her sisters Lillian Windenberg, Georgeann Price, Patty Bowers, Martha Briggs, Mildred Palmer; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Charles R Boring on Sept 3, 2004, grandson David Todd Boring on May 6, 2018; her brothers Vernon and Fred Fisher and sister Bertie Jo.
