Blanche E. Fowler, 77, of Newark, passed away at her residence on June 25, 2018, while surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Cherokee, Alabama on February 17, 1941 to the late Cleveland and Frances (Rutland) Holliday. Blanche graduated from Newark High School, Class of 1959. She also graduated with honors from Muskingum Area Technical College in 1998, with an Associates Degree in early childhood education. She was a member of Phi Theta Kappa. Prior to retirement, she was faithfully employed at LEADS Head Start for 38 years. She also worked for Legend Elementary School for many years, along with the Licking County YMCA summer camp. Blanche loved working with children, she taught them to respect themselves, other cultures and traditions. She was a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Newark and also attended Christ Memorial Baptist Church in Columbus. She was also a member of TWIG 17, which helped the community in which she lived. She enjoyed shopping, traveling and spending time with her family and friends. Her favorite Bible verse was, O Give Thanks to the Lord for His Mercy Endureth Forever. Survivors include her daughter, Djuana Taylor; son, Derrick Fowler; grandchildren, Sean Taylor, Sierra Taylor, Ashley Fowler and Jaylyn Zimmo; cousins, Robert (Courtney) Glover and Roberta Glover; aunt, Nora Scott; special friends, Pastor Shedrick and Rosie Fowler; and numerous other friends and family members. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by aunt and uncle, Maggie and James Henry Glover; uncle, Robert Thompson, Jr.; and cousin, Shelaine Glover-Watson.Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service is honored to care for Blanche and her family.
