Bonnie Lou Hanes, age 89, of Newark, passed away on July 17, 2022. She was born October 3, 1932 in Newark, Ohio to the late Amzie and Eva (Hill) Moore.
Bonnie was graduate of Newark High School and was a sales associate for many years with King’s Department Store and Daniel’s Jewelry. She was a proud member of TOPS #629 in Hanover. She loved being a mom and enjoyed cooking. She was especially known for her Black Walnut cake.
She is survived by three children, Harley “Joe” Hanes, Jr. (Janet S.), Susan Marie Hayes, and Judy A. McDonald, all of Newark; grandchildren, Harley Joe Hanes III, Christina D. Bruce, Brett C. Hanes, Bonnie Sue Dunlap, Terri Bourst, Eddie McDonald, Jr., Robert D. McDonald, and Bobbi Jo McDonald; great-grandchildren, Darion Jones, Ryleigh Hanes, Ethan Hanes, Emalie Dunlap, Andrew Dunlap, Wyatt McDonald, Harley Jo McDonald, Tyler Wilson, Trevor Wilson, Trenton Choice, Gabby Wilson, Bella Wilson, Noah Wilson, Camryn McDonald-Bailey, Anissa Sharamitaro, Hannah Sharamitaro, Davon and Blake, and Cyprus, Bodie, and Briar Hanes; great-great-grandchildren, Matthew Lucas Dunlap and Oakley Durben.
A private interment will be observed in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
