Bradford Lane Hartfield, a devoted father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 5th, 2025, in Newark, Ohio, at the age of 69. Born in Newark on December 10th, 1955, Brad's life was a testament to hard work, dedication, and love for his community.
A graduate of Granville High School, Class of 1974, Brad pursued a career as a pipefitter and welder, working for Mid-Ohio Mechanical. He was a proud member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local Union #189, where his skill and commitment were recognized by both colleagues and friends.
Throughout his life, Brad was actively involved in his community. As a teenager, he participated in 4-H, showing cattle and building lifelong connections. He was in the Polled Hereford Association and traveled through many states showing Polled Hereford Cattle from the family farm in Granville. He was an excellent cattle groomer and was always willing to help with professional and 4-H cattle grooming. Brad was Catholic by Faith, and was involved with the Newark Catholic Athletic Association and also worked bingo for many years, supporting local sports and fostering community spirit.
Brad had a variety of personal interests, including woodworking, leather working, and boating.
Brad is survived by his loving children, Caitlyn (Dan) Gayler, Lane (Devin) Hartfield, and Molly Hartfield, and his cherished grandchildren, Rylie, Noah, Henry, Jack, and a new grandchild expected in May. He is also remembered by his former wife, Shelly Gutridge, and his siblings, Neil (Sue) Hartfield, Sandy Hartfield, Doug (Johanna) Hartfield, and Karen (Lynn) Holley, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Noel and Helen Hartfield; his sister and brother-in-law, Barb and Bill Law; and his brother Carl Hartfield.
A visitation will be held at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service in Newark, OH, on Sunday, April 13th, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. This will be followed by a memorial service at 4:00 pm, providing an opportunity for family and friends to celebrate Brad’s life and legacy.
