Entombment will take place in the mausoleum at Floral Hills Memory Gardens.
Friends may call from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home, 56 South Main Street in Thornville.
Brenda was born February 16, 1943 in Salineville, Ohio to the late John Alexander Johnston and the late Ruth (Dorrance) Johnston. She passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2025 at Riverside Methodist Hospital with her family by her side.
Brenda was a proud graduate of Salineville High School, class of 1961. Following her education, she dedicated 32 years of her professional life to Western Electric/AT&T where she worked diligently until her well-deserved retirement.
Brenda had a deep love for her feline companions and spent many hours enjoying the warmth of her home, captivated by the stories from the Hallmark Channel, shopping on QVC, and watching inspiring home improvement shows from the Magnolia/HGTV network.
An excellent cook, Brenda was renowned among family and friends for her mouthwatering coleslaw, tangy pickles, scrumptious Texas Sheet Cake, and creamy custard pie.
Her sense of humor and zest for life shone through in her affection for Tom Selleck and Rip from "Yellowstone," whose cardboard cutouts were cherished features in her home, bringing smiles to all who visited.
Family was the cornerstone of Brenda’s life, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Nothing brought her more joy than her grandchildren, with whom she shared a special bond and endless love. Though a friendly rivalry existed between her grandkids, Brenda Jean and Cameran, about who held the coveted title of her favorite, both knew they shared an equal place in her heart.
Brenda was a devoted member of the Eastern Star for many years, where she cultivated lasting friendships and found fulfillment in her community endeavors.
She is survived by her children, Dawn (Keith) Martin, Earl (Karen) Dunfee, and Debra (Toby) Grant; grandchildren, Brenda (Brian) Shepherd, Randall (Jachob) Baylen, Toby Grant, Danni (Dylan) Wrann, Tiffany (Brent) Dunfee-Maust, and Alex (Sean) Martin; great-grandchildren, Cameran Shepherd, Evelyn Martin, Riley Maust, Waylynn Jo Wrann, Rhett Maust, and Magnolia Loretta Wrann; and her neighbors and special friends which include special neighbor, Sandy, mail lady, Celine, and lawn lady, Cindy.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Earl Dallas Dunfee, who passed away on April 12, 2020.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Eastern Star.
