Bruce Duane Hosack, age 78, of Thornville, passed away on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Licking Memorial Hospital. Bruce was born September 15, 1938 in Greenville, Pennsylvania to the late Harold Norman and Pearl Alberta (Fritz) Hosack. He was a 1956 graduate of Commodore Perry High School.Bruce began his career as maintenance supervisor at a water treatment plant followed by employment with a cheese factory in Blue Mounds, WI. He was the owner of Hosacks Country Market in Jackson Center, PA for a number of years and retired from the North Carolina Zoo where he was employed in maintenance.He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Joann E. (Freeland) Hosack, whom he married June 28, 1957; sons, Dale (Jo) Hosack of Houston, TX and Dennis Hosack of Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia; daughter, Darlene (Shawn) Cheney of West Middlesex, PA; grandchildren, Brittany Dunham of Pearland, TX, Noah Hosack of Oxford, Cole Hosack of Granville, Maximillian Porthun of Voorburg, The Netherlands and Madison Cheney of West Middlesex, PA; great-grandchildren, Makenna Dunham and Bryce Dunham; brother, Jerry (Janet) Hosack of Greenville, PA; and several nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Don Hosack.Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.Hoskinson Funeral & Cremation Service in Thornville is honored to care for Bruce and his family.
