Carlos "Dean" Boyer

A funeral service celebrating the life of Carlos “Dean” Boyer, 83 of Thornville, will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 65 E. Columbus Street, Thornville, with Pastor Tom Jacobson officiating. Burial will follow in Lutheran Reformed Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church, two hours prior to the funeral service on Thursday, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Dean was born in Thornville, Ohio on January 4, 1940 to the late Carlos M. and Nettie Marie (Folk) Boyer. He passed away at Select Specialty Hospital on May 21, 2023. Prior to retirement, Dean was a machinist with Rockwell International for 47 years and was also a farmer his entire life. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, where he was a former deacon. He was a vice president of Harvest Federal Credit Union; served on the Lutheran Reformed Cemetery board for many years; and was a member of the Perry County Farm Bureau. He enjoyed farming, traveling, camping, cruising, car shows, tractor pulls and John Deere tractors. Most important was the time he spent with his wife, family and friends. Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years, Janet Arlene (Hill) Boyer, whom he married March 26, 1961; children, Jacquelyn Lee (Mark) Schallip, Kelly Dean Boyer, Kristina Lynn (Marc) Mick, Brad Alan Boyer and Bryan Jay (Tina) Boyer; sister, Marie Kay Mohler; brother, Tim Edwin (Cindy) Boyer; grandchildren, Benton Schallip, Adam (Jess) Mick, Katelyn (Hayden) Painter, Elizabeth Schallip, Andrea Mick, Garrison Boyer, Austin Boyer, Payton Boyer, Kendyl Mick, Mason Boyer, Addyson Boyer and Drew Boyer; great grandchildren, Kyler Mick, Auron Painter and Brynlee Painter; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Ronald Mohler. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Dean to Grace Lutheran Church.
