Funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 27, 2023, at 10am, also at Heath Church of Christ. Burial will follow in Memorial Park, Zanesville. David Linn and Dave Mason will officiate. Carole, 84, of Heath, was welcomed into the wide-open arms of the Lord Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at Middleton Senior Living in Granville, Ohio. She was born March 2, 1939, in Zanesville, Ohio, the youngest daughter of the late Carl and Eleanor (Edwards) Eppley. She was a 1957 graduate of Jefferson High School in Dresden, Ohio. After high school, she attended and graduated from Ohio State University and began what would be a long and successful teaching career, specializing in Home Economics. She was a role model for teaching and developed lifelong friendships with colleagues. Carole was one of the earlier members of the Heath Church of Christ, meeting in the old Steel Workers building. Her involvement and service to the church, and to the congregation, was legendary. Her many ministries were as a leader for many years in Bible Bowl and Bible League; volunteering in the kitchen (no easy feat) at Round Lake Christian Camp; cooking, so much cooking, many benevolence and new baby meals, as well as volunteering in the kitchen for weddings, potlucks and parties; teaching Sunday School and leading a Journey group. Carole was also on the Missions Committee as missions and outreach were always foremost in her heart. She started the Serving Sisters group to help make diapers for new mothers in Mexico and Africa. Their ministry grew to making all kinds of gifts for missionaries to give away: t-shirt and pillowcase dresses, cases for glasses and holders for notepads and pens, baby blankets, grocery bags and so much more, with nearly the entire operation conducted from her basement. She also made several mission trips to help cook for builders in Mexico and her favorite mission trip to Haus Edelweiss in Austria. She is survived by her children, son Randall Eppley Wright (Elizabeth) and grandchildren, Ashley Jordan Wright and Joshua David Wright, son Erick Wayne Wright (Joni Burger) and daughter Garnett Sue (Rick) Andrews. Prior to having her own children, Carole opened her home to foster a young lady, Merri Ann Byers. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Iris (Kreager) Eppley and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Wayne C. Wright on August 1, 2020; brother Don Eppley and wife Joanne (Dudas) Eppley, brother David Eppley, and sister Beatrice Eppley (Blizzard). A special thanks to the Hospice of Central Ohio and the Licking Memorial Hospital and staff. Carole received the most excellent care, and we will forever be grateful. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Ohio and the Heath Church of Christ. The Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home is honored to serve the Wright family: www.hoskinsonfuneral.com
