A visitation celebrating the life of Cassandra J. Williams, 62, of Newark, will be held on Thursday, August 4, 2022 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service, 179 Granville Street, Newark. Cassandra was born in Valdosta, Georgia on September 2, 1959 to the late Henry and Irene (Golden) Greene. She passed away at her residence on July 27, 2022 while surrounded by family. Cassandra graduated from Newark High School, class of 1977 and also graduated from Otterbein University, where she received her Bachelor’s Degree. Prior to retirement, she was an underwriter with State Farm Insurance for over 40 years. She was a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, where she was active as the children’s band director, youth choir director, deaconess, Sunshine Band, and was a past women’s day director. She was also a member of the Tau Pi Phi Honorary Society and Phi Theta Kappa Honorary Society. She enjoyed flower gardening, spending time with family and friends, and traveling, where she was known amongst her friends and the “cruise travel agent.” Cassandra had a loving heart and would help anyone in need. She will be missed by everyone that knew her. Survivors include her loving husband of 41 years, Gregory A. Williams, whom she married June 27, 1981; children, Christopher (Ashley) Greene, Sgt. Trevor (Nia) Williams and Phillip Williams; siblings, Henry Greene Jr., Walter Greene, Greg Greene, Cecil Greene and Jerlene Greene; grandchildren, Cierra, Cianah, Jontey, CJ, Julian and Damian; great grandson, Jordan; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Sue Spraggins; and brothers, Michael, Curtis and Lindsey Greene.
