A funeral service, celebrating the life of Charles W. Allen, 69, of Etna, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 9th, 2015 in the chapel of the Kirkersville home of HOSKINSON Funeral & Cremation Service, with Timothy Bowie as celebrant. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date in the Kirkersville Cemetery. Charles, a well known water well driller and pump installer in the county for over 45 years; died Wednesday afternoon, February 4, 2015, at Mount Carmel East Hospital. He was born October 22, 1945, in Outville, the son of the late Joseph Ray and Irene Bell (Isenhower) Allen. Above all else, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, working his well drilling and pump business and raising and training standard bred horses. He was a former member and trustee at the Buckeye Lake Eagles #2801. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Dottie (Phillips) whom he married on August 8, 1964, his daughters Tina (Timothy) Bowie and Lynette Barr; his grandchildren Taylor Louise, Matthew Allen, Tara Lynn, Trevor Joseph and Travis James; his brother Dan (Terre) Allen, sisters Patty (Larry) Williams, Anna Mae Williams; sisters-in-law Wanda Allen (Mrs. James) and Pauline Allen (Mrs. Eugene), along with special brother-in-law David Phillips and family and special sister-in-law Mary Hewitt and family, several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers James and Eugene; brother-in-law Marvin Williams and niece Joanna Dittoe. The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 8th, 2015 from 3-6 p.m. at the funeral home, 285 E Main St. in Kirkersville.
