A memorial service celebrating the life of Charles D. “Charlie” Hottinger, 70, of Newark, will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Camp O’Bannon, 9688 Butler Road, Newark, with Pastor Wes Humble officiating. Charlie was born in Newark, Ohio on February 5, 1954 to the late Jacob and Nellie (Shipley) Hottinger. He passed away at his residence on October 25, 2024. Charlie was a Licking County Dog Warden for many years and he was also the grounds keeper for Camp O’Bannon for over 40 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening and especially loved spending time at Camp O’Bannon. Survivors include his children, Donita (fiancé, Christopher Stergios) Shockey; Angie Ours (Clarence) Baldwin and Troy (Erica) Ours; siblings, Don (Dodie) Hottinger, Matt Hottinger, Pamela Davis, Cheryl (Scott) Baker and Michelle (Russ) Miller; granddaughter, Charlize Keplar; step grandchildren, Stephen, Ariel and Bryce Shockey; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Dean, Bill, Roger, Joe and Melvin Hottinger; and nephews, Little Don and Willie “Big Will”.
