A funeral service, celebrating the life of Charles Ted Melvin, 74, of Buckeye Lake, will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 30, 2016 in the chapel of The Kirkersville home of HOSKINSON Funeral and Cremation Service, with Pastor Rick Smitson officiating. Friends may call on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until time of the funeral service. Ted died peacefully at his home on Wednesday evening, October 26, 2016, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Paintsville, Kentucky, the son of the late Ralph Melvin and Edna Faye Adams. He was employed by the Columbus Athletic Club for 19 years, retiring in 2005. He enjoyed hunting and spending time with his family. He is survived by his loving family: wife Rita, whom he married on December 20, 1996, children Ronnie (Pamela) Melvin of Fredericksburg, Va., Jeffrey (Todd) Melvin, Sandy Melvin, and Elizabeth Anderson, all of Columbus; step-children Robert (Betty) Miller of Buckeye Lake, Sonya (Jeff) Smith of Millersport, Michael (Marlene) Miller of Columbus and William (Melinda) Miller of Orient; his 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, along with his mother-in-law Juanita Foster. The family wishes to thank the caregivers at Hospice of Central Ohio for their loving care of Ted and the family.
