Charlotte Esther Barker

A funeral service celebrating the life of Charlotte Esther Barker, age 71, of Newark, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 17, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home, 179 Granville Street, Newark, with Pastor Scott Murphy officiating. Friends may call from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Hanover Cemetery.Mrs. Barker was born December 22, 1942 in Newark, Ohio to the late Betty (Ferrell) Ballwick. She passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2014 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center (operated by Hospice of Central Ohio).A homemaker, Mrs. Barker enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed watching cooking shows, shopping and tending her flowers. She was a member of Eagles Nest Tabernacle.She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Danny E. Barker, Sr., whom she married on July 10, 1970; children, Samuel (Marilyn) Allen of Newark, Tammy (Ernest) White of Nashport, Michael Allen of Newark, Danny (Tiffany) Barker, Jr. of Hanover and Brandon Barker of Marysville; thirteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Cora Lee Allen of Newark; and several nieces and nephews.In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Dannel Jean Barker, on August 14, 2011; and by a brother, Donald E.
