Chester Lee “Chet” Workman, age 83, of Hebron, passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at Genesis Hospice Care-Morrison House in Zanesville.
Chester was born July 23, 1941 in Lawrence County, Ohio to the late Cleveland Dustin and Myrtle Faye (Rigney) Workman. A veteran of the United States Navy, Chet faithfully served his country during Vietnam. He retired from Quickway Carriers where he had been a truck driver for many years. Chet was a member of the Hebron Nazarene Church. He enjoyed old cars and going to car shows, watching NASCAR and OSU football, fishing, and feeding the squirrels and birds in his yard. Chet loved President Trump, discussing politics, and watching Fox News. He especially loved his family and grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them.
He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Jean (Henderson) Workman; children, Teresa (Scott) Worth of Grove City, Thomas Ray (Barbara) Workman of Heath, Tosha McKinster of Millersport, Chester Junior Workman of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, and Savannah Workman of Midland; step-children, Donita Lynn (Timothy) Kirkbride of Newark, Mark Weston Swinehart of Massillon, and Matthew William (Tracy) Swinehart of Pickerington; 19 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Linda Workman of Proctorville; many nieces and nephews; special friends, Ashly and Darren Miller and Dave Taylor; and his fur babies, Bella, Uggy, Copper, Cash, and Barley Boy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Timmy Lee Workman; and his siblings, Junior Workman, Jake Workman, Mildred Johnson, Mary Elizabeth Nichols, and an infant sister.
The family will observe a private celebration of Chet’s life. Military honors will be observed by the Licking County Veteran’s Alliance.
