A funeral service celebrating the life of Christine N. Brennan, age 99, of Newark, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 19, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home with Pastor Cory Campbell officiating. Burial will take place in Wilson Cemetery. Friends may call from 12-1 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street in Newark. Christine was born January 10, 1919 in Alexandria, Ohio to the late Clarence Reece and Emily Frances (Metcalf) Bishop. She passed away on Sunday, April 15, 2018 at her home. Christine was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking and was best known for her delicious meatloaf, divinity, orange cookies and potato salad. She loved feeding and watching the birds in her yard, tending to her flower beds and also enjoyed ceramics and playing Pinochle. Often referred to as the Energizer Bunny, Christine was a person who had a very positive and happy outlook and always put others before herself and loved to wait on people. She gave to several charities faithfully every month and was known for sending cards to people. Keep Smiling and Count Your Blessings were two of her favorite sayings. She was a very special lady who will be missed immensely. She is survived by four children, Marcella (John) Wolfle of Nashport, Heather (Dick) Rudbeck of Zebulon, Georgia, Michael J. Brennan of Newark and Chris Dolen of Newark; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and good friend, Billie Deck of Buckeye Lake. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, H. Gordon Brennan, Sr., whom she married on July 17, 1937 and who passed away on October 15, 1990; a son, H. Gordon Brennan, Jr.; daughter, Emily Painter; son-in-law, Skip Dolen; and three sisters, Miriam Harris, Martha Lewis and Frances Bishop.A special thanks to the nurses and aides from Hospice of Central Ohio who gave our mother such excellent care.
