Clare Louise (Shetrone) Thompson, 94, of Whitehall, died Tuesday, March 4, 2014, following a brief illness. Born to Floyd D. and Alta J. (Schumaker) Shetrone in Baltimore, Ohio, August 10, 1919. Preceded in death by husband Thurrel H. Thompson, on December 24th, 2010. Also, preceded in death by brother Dean Shetrone, and his wife, Lee, formerly of Lancaster, Ohio. She graduated along with her husband from Liberty Union High School, class of 1937, where she served as school secretary for five more years. The Thompsons have made Whitehall their home since 1950; and were the parents of three sons, Rod of Whitehall, Craig (Jo) of Marion, Ohio and Allyn (Nan) of Westerville. Two grandchildren also survive Zach Thompson of Columbus and Sarah Thompson, currently attending the University of Michigan. Clare is retired from the State of Ohio, APD, and has continued to reside at her home in Whitehall. She is an honorary member of Whitehall Senior Citizens. Friends may call Friday, March 7, 2014 from 9 to 10 :00 a.m. in the chapel of The Kirkersville home of HOSKINSON Funeral & Cremation Service, where funeral services will follow at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Brian Harkness as celebrant. Burial will follow at Kirkersville Cemetery.
