Clarence Cabiness, Jr.

August 31, 1953 — December 10, 2018

A homegoing service celebrating the life of Clarence Cabiness, Jr., age 65, of Newark, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 20, at Trinity Episcopal Church, 76 East Main Street in Newark.

Clarence was born August 31, 1953 in Akron, Ohio to the late Clarence Cabiness, Sr. and the late Queen Esta (Thompson) Cabiness. He passed away unexpectedly on Monday, December 10, 2018 at Licking Memorial Hospital.

Clarence was a veteran of the United States Army. Over the years he was employed by Fiberlite, Dayton Precision, Excel and Universal Veneer and had many other jobs to ensure that his family was taken care of. Clarence was a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. He loved fishing and hunting and also enjoyed cooking and gardening. He was always full of stories, laughter and encouragement for anyone in need and was known to spread love and laughter to everyone he encountered. Clarence cherished the time he spent with family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife, Judith K. (Johnson) Cabiness; son, Jyair Cabiness of Newark; daughters, Denita Johnson of Newark, Nekita Johnson of Columbus and Brandi Ash of Newark; ten grandchildren, Ottianna Johnson, Lalianna Johnson, Delvonnae Johnson, Daeja Johnson, Brooklyn Johnson, Jovian Johnson, Raekwon Hrabowskie, Nekhi Johnson, Malik Johnson and Demarion Johnson; ten great-grandchildren; brothers, Rubin Cabiness of Columbus, Clifford Cabiness and William Smith, both of Newark; sisters, Loveta Parks and Kathleen Cabiness, both of Newark; and a host of nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Brenda Campbell and Paulette Evans; brother-in-law, Oscar Evans; and great-granddaughter, Mianna Tucker.
