Clarence Edward Priest

A funeral service celebrating the life of Clarence Edward Priest, age 97, of Newark, will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 26, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street, Newark. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 27, at Wilson Cemetery where military honors will observed by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.Clarence was born August 20, 1918 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Sherman Edward and Marie (Shull) Priest. He passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center (operated by Hospice of Central Ohio).Clarence was a veteran of the United States Army. He retired from Ranco, Inc. in Worthington and had also worked in security. He was a member of the American Legion Post #85 and the Newark Eagles and enjoyed golfing and bowling.He is survived by a daughter, Jane Priest of Newark; and many nieces, nephews and friends.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Jane Priest, on August 31, 2013; and by a daughter, Rebecca Timmons on September 4, 2015; and a sister, Ruth Brown.Memorial contributions may be made to the Foundation for Hospice of Central Ohio.Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home is honored to care for Clarence and his family.
