It is with sadness that we share the loss of Clarence William Bud Hummel, Jr.,age 77, of Frazeysburg. He left this world onSaturday, October 24, 2015 at Genesis Hospital in Zanesville with his wife at his side. Bud was born July 3, 1938 in Newark, Ohio to the late Clarence A. Hummel and Helen Virginia (Vanatta) Humphrey.Bud was a veteran of the United States Army and had been employed as a special deputy for Denison University and drove truck for Matlack (Penske). He was a member of Smith Chapel United Methodist Church and the Teamsters Union.He was a joker and he was at his best laughing with friends and family. He would enjoy a fishing trip at any time, far or near, Bluegill or Shark. The more people to join him the happier he would be. You could always find him puttering around finding projects in the garage or working on cars. He was always there to lend a hand. He loved his family dearly.He is survived by his wife of nearly 56 years, Goldie Dell (Williams) Hummel, whom he married November 14, 1959; two daughters, Brenda Louise (Mitchell) Ranck of Thornville and Holly Jean (Al) Colbert of Newark; eight grandchildren, Ronald Eric (Amber Marie) Hummel, Kevin Eugene Hummel, Elise Lorraine Hummel, Maxwell Gene Grant Hummel, Sinjin Allen Colbert, Peyton Jinsin Colbert, Aaron James Ranck and Amanda Michelle (Aaron II) Gullett; great-grandchildren, Emma Marie Hummel, Elizabeth Nicole Hummel, Gwen Riley Gullett and a baby on the way; sisters, Dorothy Hollingshead of Newark and Linda Kolb of Newark; a brother, Richard Euene Hummel of Frazeysburg; many nieces and nephews; and daughter-in-law, Jeanette Lorraine Riffle of West Salem.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Eugene Hummel, on August 14, 2005; a sister, Elizabeth Jean Powers; step-mother, Betty Hummel; and step-father, James Humphrey.A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 1, at Smith Chapel United Methodist Church, 4895 Reform Road, Newark. Friends may call from 12:30 p.m.-2 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
