Clyde E. Ed Houdeshell, Jr., age 67, of Newark, passed away on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center (operated by Hospice of Central Ohio).Ed was born January 16, 1947 in Newark, Ohio to the late Clyde E., Sr. and Dorothy (Price) Houdeshell. A 1965 graduate of Newark High School, Ed faithfully served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He retired from the City of Cleveland and was a two-term Newark City Councilman.Ed was a sailor and bicyclist and rode the Tour of Scioto River Valley (TOSRV) many times. He enjoyed motor sports and was a racing fan. He was an avid skier and ski instructor at Snow Trails Ski Resort. After his spinal cord injury, he skied on a mono ski with the TASC organization. He was past-president of the Newark Ski Club.He is survived by his wife, Jackie L. (Ward) Houdeshell, whom he married March 4, 1994; son, Jeffrey J. Houdeshell (Sheila Bengtson) of Huntington Beach, California; and daughter, Amy C. Weaver of Newark.The family will receive friends for a memorial gathering from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, June 5, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home, 179 Granville Street, Newark.Memorial contributions may be made to the Foundation for Hospice of Central Ohio, P.O.
