Clyde "Skeeter" Raymond Gilliland

June 29, 1947 — October 7, 2020

Clyde Raymond “Skeeter" Gilliland Sunrise: June 29, 1947 Sunset: October 7, 2020 Skeeter Gilliland 73, was called home October 7, 2020, passing away unexpectedly at home, which if you knew him, you know that’s how he wanted it. Skeet was born in Gallipolis, Ohio to the late Oakley Bernard “O.B.” & Lillian Mae “Mazie" Gilliland. He traveled the country, even working the big fish boats in Alaska before coming back to Ohio to settle down. He met and married (after 6 months of dating) the love of his life Pearl “Louie" Gilliland on November 19, 1977 and they shared 42 ¾ years of love and laughter. Skeet is survived by his loving wife, Louie; three daughters, Crystal, Tanya, Tonya (Mark Cook) Gilliland, we are extremely lucky and blessed to have a superhero for a Dad. Granddaughter (Partner in Crime and let’s face it his favorite) Madison May, who loves her Pap Pap fiercely and worships the ground he walked on, who now all have a huge piece of their heart in Heaven. Special family friend, Morgan Good, who affectionately referred to Skeeter as “Big Show". Nieces, Suzan (Ron) Suttles, Edith “Yogi”, Rhonda Gilliland, and Jackie Mckoyes. Great niece, Shawna (Cody Knox) Zimmerman; nephews, Gene and Chad Gilliland, John Wade, Michael Newman, and Jason Mckoyes; great great nephews, Cam and Dash Zimmerman; sister, Rose Wade; brother-in-law, Jr. (Billie) Mckoyes; and two daughters from a previous marriage Lindy and Wendy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mazie and O.B.; in laws, Dot and Red Bell; sister-in-law, Bea Romine; brothers, Gene, Everett (Diane), John (Linda) Gilliland; and best friend/brother, Phil Newman, who all probably met him at the pearly gates with a big welcoming party. To know Skeet was to love him, He was a joker who enjoyed teasing and razzing his family all the time. He’d give you the shirt of his back (if he was wearing one.) He was a farmer, avid hunter and fisherman who taught his girls and grandgirl all he knew and how to appreciate the country life. He was a jack of all trades, there wasn’t a thing he couldn’t repair. He was happiest at home loving on his family, tinkering around the farm, and eating all the pumpkin pie. At his request there will be no public service and his family will scatter his ashes at a later date. He will be loved always and missed forever! In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to offset the funeral expenses. Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service is honored to care for Clyde and his family.
