A funeral service celebrating the life of Corey James Hagar-McCormick, 29, of Johnstown, will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service, 56 South Main Street, Thornville, Ohio, followed by a graveside ceremony at Fairmount Cemetery, Jacksontown.  After services, lunch will be provided at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church 5133 Walnut Rd., Buckeye Lake, OH.

Corey was born in Jackson, Michigan on July 19, 1994.  He passed away from heart failure due to cancer at Licking Memorial Hospital on Thursday, December 14, 2023.

Corey grew up in Kennesaw, Georgia and Napoleon, Ohio, and then graduated from Dublin Scioto High School in 2012.  Corey found steady work as a painter and handyman.  He enjoyed bicycling and hiking, frisbee golf and video games, and his loud abrasive sense of humor will be fondly remembered.

Corey is survived by his parents John and Teresa McCormick; his siblings Malinda Hagar, Meghan McCormick, Jack McCormick and Madison McCormick; and his biological father Gary Hagar.  He was loved by his grandmothers Marsha Stadel and Joyce Davis, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates donations to the St. Jude’s Childrens Research Hospital or the American Cancer Society.
